the propeller community is starting to breathe again, much to our relief. we are not out of the woods yet, nor are we quite into the woods, ala broadway, but somewhere in between. things are looking up.

I just submitted a new thread, "America the Self Righteous," at http://www.propeller.com/story/2008/08/05/america-the-self-righteous/ It may be my most inflammatory submission yet.

Hey - are you the "boss" of the "old propeller community" group? Or cam you tell me who is? I'd definitely like to be aboard!

    (2) AOL thinks that by stripping the site of features they are saving server space and thus saving money. Which also doesn't make any sense. (3) AOL is now featuring stories from Propeller on AOL news, one of my posts was featured and got almost 4,000 "reads" which is very attractive to blog owners. Never mind that that same post only got 70 or so votes when my normal average is about 120. This points to a fundamental restructuring of what Propeller exists for and it is NOT to support a community. Community means storage space and that means renting space on someone else's servers or buying servers of their own so if Propeller 2.0 exists as a "story farm" for AOL News it's possible that the less community there is the better. -As I said, just ruminations, and ones leaning a bit to the paranoid perhaps, but this is SO user UN-friendly you just have to wonder.

berkeley, that is the most articulate assessment of what's wrong with Prop 2.0 I've yet read. I believe the only thing you left out was page numbers and the edit feature. But really, with so much missing, it's hard to keep track. Of course, it remains to be seen if they respond, or if they do, how quickly. I hope JamesMarcus and Tom realize that an IMMEDIATE response to these concerns is an absolute requirement. At the very least friends' submissions should be returned within the week. Unbelievable that this was removed when members and scouts both lauded it as a fantastic feature. I also find the question of Beta testing perplexing. I have to believe they didn't do any, because if they did this ill-considered mess would not be here. But WHY? WHY would you not do Beta testing? Isn't that, like, a standard industry practice? Anyway, it was an excellent write up and they do insist they're listening...

I share your sentiments. Unless the previous version is restored, I will most probably also abandon propeller.

Boy does this version SUCK. Couldn't we have the old version back again?
